Karmel Market was built just off Lake Street with one belief: that a great grocery store can feed a community — and bring it together.
Why we exist
We set out to build a market where everyone belongs — where Somali, Latino, Middle Eastern, and longtime Minnesota families all find the foods they grew up with, side by side.
Our corner of Lake Street is one of the most culturally rich neighborhoods in Minneapolis — and one that's too often overlooked. We believe this community deserves a beautiful, clean, well-stocked market with quality food at fair prices. Not someday. Now. Karmel Market is our answer: two full floors of fresh food — national brands you already know and love, plus a wide variety of international and imported goods — and a gathering place that belongs to all of us.

Lake Street is one of Minneapolis's most culturally rich corridors — home to Somali, Latino, Middle Eastern, and longtime Minnesota families. For years, this neighborhood lacked a single market where all of them could truly shop together.
Karmel Market was built to be that place. Somali spices and Latino produce. Middle Eastern pantry staples and halal meats cut fresh daily. Imported goods from across the world, alongside every national brand you already know — all under one roof, at honest prices.
